A Meditation Exercise
How-To Become Calm and Centered
Make your magic more effective by building emotional
and psychic intensity and focusing clearly on your goal.
Sit while holding the stone and listening to
the music in a quiet room at home, or in the outdoors if the weather is
nice. Breathe deeply and rhythmically. Begin inhaling through your mouth,
then exhaling through your nostrils with a long, steady humming note. With
each exhalation, make the note smoother and draw it out longer. Breathe
your tension and anxiety into the stone. When you feel calm and centered,
put the stone on the ground, open the circle and walk away. The stone will
dissipate the tension into the Earth to be transmuted; if you wish, you
can retrieve the stone in a day or two for later use.
OR
Lay down with your arms by your side.
Begin breathing as though you are pretending
to be asleep. Breathe in deeply, hold it for 5 seconds, and breathe out,
hold for 5 seconds, breathe in again and repeat the pattern.
Focus on your feet. Feel them relax, feel the
tension leaving you. Then focus on your legs, your stomach, your arms,
your hands, and face.... feel them releasing, and relaxing.
Once your entire body is relaxed, it will begin
to feel heavy. Imagine yourself drifting towards sleep, floating downward
like a pearl in a stream. Drift deeper and deeper. Begin counting to ten,
slowly. Once you reach ten, you will be in a state of total relaxation
and meditation.
When you are done with the relaxation exercise,
count backwards from 10 to 1. When you reach one, you will be revitalized
and full of energy.
Meditation Exercise
Sit or lay down in a comfortable position, keeping
your spine as straight as possible. Close your eyes. Imagine your body
getting lighter. Now, imagine that a gentle wave of warmth [or warm water]
is washing over your body, beginning with the top of your head. Let the
warmth wash over you. Feel the warmth bringing peace to your head as it
washes away all tension. Now, allow the warmth to wash down your neck and
shoulders. Peace is washing over you and you are relaxed. Let the warmth
wash down your arms to your fingertips. Let any tension flow out through
your fingertips, disappearing forever. Now, let the warmth wash down your
chest and back. Feel the warmth and relaxation wash over your belly and
down your thighs. Peace is washing over you and you are relaxed. Let the
warmth wash down you knees and calves and then your feet and toes. Let
any tension flow out through your toes, disappearing forever. Now, you
are relaxed. Let the warmth wash down your entire body again, washing away
any left-over tension. You are relaxed. you may remain in this relaxed
state for a while, if you like. When you are ready, take some deep breaths
and slowly open you eyes. |
