APPLE CRANBERRY CRISP1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter flavored shortening, melted
1 T water
1 (16 oz) can whole berry cranberry sauce
2 T cornstarch
5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, flour, and
cinnamon. Stir in the butter flavored shortening and water to
form a
crumbly mixture.
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, mix together the cranberry
sauce and cornstarch and bring to a boil. Stir in the apples
and coat
with the cranberry sauce.
Spread the mixture into an 8x8-inch glass baking dish. Crumble
the
oat mixture over the apples.
Bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
Serve warm.
Makes 12 servings.
